Local manufacturer expands operations

GREENVILLE — Greenville Technologies Inc. has leased 26,000 square feet in a former Corning lighting plant here to use as a docking station for its expanded operations.

The company moved into the space earlier this month after the owners installed new docks, lighting and power, said Tim Echemann of Industrial Property Brokers. Echemann said he represented both parties in reaching a long-term lease for the property.

Established 22 years ago, GTI has 650 employees, according to a press release. Work related to a model changeover by Honda of America prompted the expansion, the press release said.

The 300,000-square-foot Corning facility produced headlights and high-intensity lights for residential use before it closed in 2002.

Under new ownership, the facility is almost fully occupied and plans call for the owners to add another 40,000 square feet in the next six months, Echemann said.
